Mother Eva Lela Caver was born January 22, 1933 to the union of the late Mr. Willie Ed and late Mrs. Willie Anna Glover in Carroll County, Mississippi. Eva nicknamed E.L. as a child, attended Carroll County Schools and gave her life to Christ at an early age when she joined the Summerfield Missionary Baptist Church.
Eva married the late Willie James Purnell and to this union four children, 3 girls and 1 boy was born. Eva remarried the late Samuel Oran Caver, Sr. after she moved to Milwaukee, WI and to this union a girl and a boy was born.
Eva has long been known for her savory meals and delicious desserts; she was top chef at the restaurant chain Holloway House Cafeterias. A talented seamstress, she worked for the Brills Bros Inc which manufactured men and boy’s suits and coats. Eva retired from Reliable Knitting Works, Inc. However, she continued a tradition of Sunday and holiday dinners for the family and taught her grandchildren how to knit and sew.
Eva was preceded in death by four of her seven siblings; Mrs. Pauline G. Wood, Mrs. Eddie Mae Woods, Otis Glover, and Francis Ruth Glover and two of her daughters Eva Louise Purnell and Dorothy Jean Purnell.
She leaves to cherish her memory two younger brothers William G. (Betty) Glover, Sr. of Winona, Mississippi and Cornelius (Pat) Glover, Sr. of Milwaukee, WI., two daughters Alberdia (Jason) Ross of Milwaukee, WI, Phyllis Armstrong of Winona, MS. Willie J. Purnell, Jr. of Winona, MS and Anthony Caver of New Haven, CT, 15 grandchildren, a host of great and great-great grandchildren and host of relatives and friends.
